Equipping you for the war on diabetes – Here’s what you need to know

World Diabetes Day

The War on Diabetes is very real, with the number of diabetic patients in Singapore increasing over the years. Although the risk increases with age, diabetes is rising among the young, including teenagers.

If you don’t already know, diabetes is a long-term medical condition in which the blood sugar levels of a person remain higher than normal all the time. It occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, a hormone that reduces the blood glucose levels, or when insulin does not work properly. Our specialists from Raffles Diabetes & Endocrine Centre shed more light on this disease.
