Prof. Ronald Lee Chi Hang is a senior consultant cardiologist at the National University Heart Centre Singapore, and a tenured Associate Professor (clinician-scholar track) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He and his research group have carried out studies on the impact of sleep apnoea and its treatment on cardiovascular disease.
A/Prof. Lee graduated MBBS, and subsequently obtained a doctorate from University of Hong Kong. He underwent training in internal medicine and cardiology at the Queen Mary Hospital and Grantham Hospital (Hong Kong), Erasmus Medical Centre (Rotterdam, the Netherlands), and the Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, U.S.). A/Prof. Lee’s honours include the Singapore Cardiac Society Young Investigator Award (2010), National Medical Excellence Award (2011), Clinician Scientist Award (2015), and Senior Clinician Scientist Award (2018).
Being an accomplished researcher, A/Prof. Lee has authored or co-authored close to 200 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. His research is supported by grants from the National Medical Research Council, Ministry of Education, Singapore Heart Foundation and medical device industries. Having performed over 2000 percutaneous coronary intervention procedures, including live demonstrations in international conferences, A/Prof. Lee is an experienced interventional cardiologist and a key member of the National University Heart Centre Singapore’s interventional cardiology service. A/Prof. Lee is also noted for his passion for medical education. He founded the Cardiology Review Course for Undergraduate Medical Students in 2008. He is a core faculty member of the Cardiology Senior Residency Programme (cardiology) since 2016. He has supervised over 10 research fellows, undergraduate and postgraduate students from Singapore and overseas. A/Prof. Lee is a fellow of the Royal College of Physician (Edinburgh), American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
