Dr Ranjana Mathur is a Senior Consultant in the Medical Retina Department in Singapore National Eye Centre and a Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School. Following completion of her Master in Ophthalmology and Diplomat of National Board degree in India, she obtained the degree of Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore and Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1998. She joined Singapore National Eye centre faculty as Associate Consultant in Vitreo-Retinal service after completion of her specialist training and medical retina fellowship in 2004.

In addition to performing cataract surgeries, her sub-specialty interest includes managing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular pathology; three of the most common blinding retinal conditions. She has special interest in inherited retinal conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt macular dystrophy and role of electrophysiology in diagnosing complex retinal and optic nerve conditions. She currently holds position of Adjunct Clinical Scientist at Singapore Eye Research Institute.

She has designed and implemented new model of primary eye care at SNEC (PEC). She is Principal Investigator for MOH HSDP grant which is looking at National community Eye Care clinic, in collaboration with other Singapore restructured eye hospitals. She is the first SNEC Institutional Risk Officer and in her role of IRO she has conceptualized and implemented enterprise risk management framework by engaging various clinical departments, to achieve safe clinical processes for better patient safety.

She has been awarded SingHealth Service Quality Award twice (Gold and Silver) for her role as a clinician and Best Teacher Award as an educator. And has author >50 peer-reviewed international papers.
